Rutlands Raffi and his litter sibling Rutlands Bel, were diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia some months ago. Since the diagnosis Bel’s Mum (Sarah) and I have been in contact as we travel this journey together (mainly trying to get a satisfactory response from our breeder).
We had only ever communicated on FB Messenger and never spoken. I knew Sarah lived down “south” and she knew I lived up “north”. We didn’t know what each other looked like.
Just recently I was at our local off leash dog beach with Raffi and my hubby. A girl was there with her fluffy dog. We started chatting.

Her: What sort of dog is he?
Me: An Australian Cobberdog
Her: Oh so is mine!
Me: Oh really, I’ve never seen one at this beach before. Where did you get her?
Her: Rutlands, but I wouldn’t recommend them.
Me: Oh wow that’s where I got mine! What’s happened with yours?
Her: She’s got Hip Dysplasia.
Me: Oh my God so has mine. …… Hang on, are you Sarah?
Her: Yes! Are you Marsha?

Can you believe this story? Sarah lives in Canberra (1100kms away) and was on a solo road trip for two weeks just taking her where the road led her. I asked her to come stay a few days, so Raffi had his litter sibling staying right here in the house. We had so much fun together. So glad to have met these two face to face. Isn’t it the best story ever!
Marsha Gusti
It was during our time together that we discussed the challenges we had had when purchasing our pups which included ongoing care and getting a helpful response from our breeder when things went wrong.

We decided to create CobberConnect to help others similar to ourselves to connect and share what sometimes can be a daunting journey especially for new puppy owners or those who haven't had a dog in many years.

We are an independent not for profit site and are not aligned to any particular breeder.

We are glad you're here. Please enjoy.
